The Melbourne International Airport (MEL) is around 24 km away from the city center, that is Central Business District (CBD) and takes 30-40 minutes by road. To facilitate a smooth, comfortable and hassle free transport to the city, the Melbourne Airport offers various road and air facilities.

Bus to airport

Bus & Shuttle Service: There are three options: Skybus, public buses, and regional buses. SkyBus runs express bus services every 10 minutes between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne CBD, operating all day, every day at a flat rate of $19.75 one-way. Public Transport Victoria (PTV) operates 5 timetabled services from the T4 Ground Transport Hub. There are numerous direct, regional and charter buses at the airport. Their pick-up and drop-off location is dependent on the service they offer.

Airport taxi

Taxi: Taxi stands are across the terminals. The current Melbourne Airport access fee of $3.65 applies to all pick-ups from an airport taxi rank. The access fee is paid by the passenger to the taxi driver and is included in the taxi fare. There is no airport charge for drop off.

Pre- booked Transfer, Limo Service

Pre-book Taxi: You can pre-book a taxi to pick you up from the airport. Your taxi will be ready to collect you in the outdoor section of the of the At Terminal T123 car park.

Chauffeur/Hire cars: It must be pre-arranged and the driver will meet you at the Chauffeur/Hire cars meeting points inside the airport. The fee is agreed to in advance, as there is no meter in the vehicle. You should be aware that it's against the law for drivers to solicit a fare from you.

Rideshare: The driver picks up travelers from two locations: Qantas, International and Virgin Australia passengers from lane 1 of the forecourt; Jetstar, TigerAir, Rex or AirNorth passengers from level 2 inside the T4 Ground Transport Hub. A rideshare access fee of $4.48 inc GST applies per trip. Passengers can be dropped off anywhere along Departure Drive and the T4 Transport Hub drop off zone on level 1. This is the same for all the public drop off zones.

Helicopter Shuttle: Microflite Helicopter Services is now offering airport transfers between Melbourne Airport to various locations around Victoria, including the CBD.

Car Rental: Hiring a private vehicle is the best way to get around the city. Melbourne Airport offers six car rentals companies that are all under one roof, located on the ground floor of the airport At Terminal T123 car park.
